Thin Lizzy reissues on vinyl

Universal Music just re-released on vinyl all the Thin Lizzy studio albums, plus the legendary Live And Dangerous concert album. Two of these records are featuring Gary Moore. "Nightlife" was originally released in 1974, after Gary's left the band, but the tracklist is including one song with him, because they've kept the original guitar on "Still In Love With You". The great "Black Rose" was released in 1979, after Gary returned as a full-time member. These new Thin Lizzy vinyl albums were released on 8th December 2014.

Jack Bruce - The 50th Birthday Concerts

Click here for larger image Click here for larger image Click here for larger image Jack Bruce was born in 1943. To celebrate his 50th birthday they've put together a fantastic concert in Germany. Actually, it was two concerts at the E-Werk in Cologne on 2nd and 3rd of November 1993, where many of his musician friends were joining him to play a wide selection of songs from his career, which is started back in 1962, when he joined to Alexis Korner. Of course, this release is important to us Gary Moore fans from another reason, too. Gary also joined to them to play a few Cream songs with Jack and Ginger Baker, probably already with the idea in their heads to forming a band and recording a studio album together. This concert recording is really a must for all Gary Moore fans, and finally it will be available as an official DVD release (it was already released on double CD in 1994), after watching it in different copies on the internet for long years. It will be released in several different formats (2DVD, 2DVD+1CD and a special 3DVD+1CD version) on the 28th of November in Germany.

Gary Moore Memorial Concert 2015

Time to start to work on our next year tribute to Gary, and to keep the tradition, we will make it here in Budapest, Hungary, just like the last three years. Originally the plan was to take it other cities every year, but now it's clear that we have to keep it here, and make our capital for a pleasant meeting point for all our friends in those early April days. We always have some fantastic time together. Let's meet again next year!

We've got in touch with some bands and musicians already, and of course really would like to welcome again our friends who played all the three previous gigs, just because our point is really not to put names on the posters, but to try to bring together all those people who care about Gary and his musical legacy. So, without a detailed program you can be sure it will be a great night! Of course we will try our best and put it together as soon as possible, and informing all of you about the details. One thing is sure, that next year it will be on the weekend (on Friday or Saturday night, 3rd/4th) probably it will be much easier to travelling for more people. It will be the Easter weekend in 2015, what of course can be good or bad in timing, but who really wants to be here with us to remember Gary, probably its better than a weekday.

Blues For Jimi DVD+CD set

Two years after the original release of the great Blues For Jimi live album and DVD, Eagle Records decided to re-release it as a DVD+CD set as well. As you probably know already it was recorded at Hippodrome in London on 25th October 2007. Gary Moore, Darrin Mooney and Dave Bronze have played a great set of Jimi Hendirx classics, and in the finale Billy Cox and Mitch Mitchell also joined Gary to play three of the biggest Jimi Hendrix songs. Both discs will contain the same material, all the 12 songs as listed below. The release date is 6th October 2014.

Win the new live album...or more!

Thank you for everyone for taking part in the competition! These are the correct answers to our questions:

Who is the drummer on Live At Bush Hall 2007?
What was the title of Gary's first blues live album?
Which was the first Gary Moore studio album under the wings of Eagle Records?

The missing piece: The Prisoner

I've just discovered it by accident, but gladly sharing this interesting video with all of you. For long years I've just heard about it as an existing, but still missing item. Then the CD reissue of the Dr. Strangely Strange album, "Heavy Petting" finally gave us some excerpts from the music (which was recorded in September 1983), but still wasn't that much chance to see the original animated film with the complete soundtrack featuring Gary Moore on acoustic and electric lead guitar.  ...or maybe we've been trying to reach it from the wrong direction. Probably it wasn't that rare for those who are interested in the animted short films and its history. Anyway, around a year ago, Tim Booth (the singer and guitarist of Dr. Strangely Strange) uploaded his film to a video sharing page, so now as I was updating the discography/session pages of our website, I've made some quick research for Dr. Strangely Strange materials as well, and found it!

New Gary Moore live album in September!

Eagle Records will release a new Gary Moore live album this autumn, under the title "Live At Bush Hall 2007". Right before the UK tour the band played a special album launch gig of the Close As You Get record - which was an 'invited-only' concert at the Bush Hall in London on the 17th of May in 2007. The concert was broadcasted by the Planet Rock radio, so you might have the recording of it (the radio broadcast was roughly one hour), but it will be great to have an official CD version of this special concert with a pro sound and with a longer tracklist, including two songs what Gary never played again on the tour after this concert. As Eagle Records confirmed, the scheduled release date is 22nd September.

Now you can listen short snippets of each song from this forthcoming live album at

The Book - Message from the author

Hello to all Gary Moore fans!

As most of you will know by now, I am writing the official biography and Zoli asked me to give you all an update. I have already written biographies of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Alexis Korner, Graham Bond plus articles for Mojo, Classic Rock and their Blues magazine and other magazines.

After two years of research, I have finally started writing the book. Why has it taken so long to get to this point? Well, I work full time for a UK drugs charity called DrugScope and I have interviewed over 100 people for this book, the most for any of my books apart from Jimi Hendrix. But in that case, I had somebody working with me, who conducted a number of the interviews on my behalf. This time, I am on my own. And of course, I work during the day, musicians work at night and are touring, so you can see how time can fly past trying to set things up. But I have to say that everybody has been very cooperative and happy to share their memories of Gary.

Writing a book like this is like doing a large jigsaw puzzle. First you have to do the outside, to frame the puzzle so you can see the shape of what you are doing before you can start with all the detail. So the research is the frame and the writing is the detail. I can’t say yet when the book will be published because that has yet to be worked out – but when I know, I’ll be sure to tell Zoli. In the meantime, it’s head down and keep writing.

Vinyl reissue of "Ballads & Blues 1982-1994"

This summer will bring a new vinyl re-release to the Gary Moore fans and collectors. "Ballads & Blues 1982-1994" was the first proper Gary Moore compilation, which was originally released almost 20 years ago, in November 1994. Those LPs are quite rare (and expensive) nowadays, so this fresh, quality 180g vinyl is highly welcomed. Universal Music will release it in the 'Back To Black' range, so it will include a voucher for the free mp3 album as well. The album will be out in the original shape, without the two songs ("Crying In The Shadows" and "Falling In Love With You") what was included on the CD and cassette versions, and only the South Korea LP was included all the 14 tracks.
The new vinyl version of "Ballads & Blues 1982-1994" will be released on 14th July 2014. In the meantime check out the 'related links' at the bottom of this page to see all the previous versions of this evergreen compilation.

Gary Moore Memorial Evening 2014 - A38 Ship, Budapest, Hungary - 3rd April 2014

Run For Power
Cliff Moore Band
Henrik Freischlader Band

+ guests: Remig Somogyi, Harrisen Larner-Main, András Petruska

Click here for larger imageThis was the third time that we came together to remember our hero and his fantastic musical legacy. The original plan was to making a double show, with Henrik Freischlader's tour closer concert on the 3rd, and then the Memorial Evening on the following night on the 4th. Due to technical difficulties we weren't able to make the gig on Gary's birthday, but fortunately our dear friend and fanclub member Henrik Freischlader agreed to merge this two shows, and make a special night this way. The result was a fantastic event, front of a great audience in the almost packed A38 Ship.
The local tribute band, Run For Power started the evening with a strong one hour long set including some of the biggest rock and blues classics of Gary Moore. They've played his songs in the usual great quality, with the expected humility and respect. Although Gary's brother Cliff joining us every year, this was the first time that he was able to come over with his own band. Together with some other guests they've played a shorter set, but full of surprises. I just hoping that next year they can make it again and Cliff will be here with his boys, as it was a superb performance! After a short break, Henrik Freischlader played his complete "Night Train To Budapest" tour program at this final stop of their tour. Although Henrik's own set is also almost a tribute to Gary, as he was pick up the guitar because of him and was growing up to listening Gary's music, they've added extra encores and invited many guests to play a few more songs for Gary.
This year it was a different show again, not as we've planned at the first place, but at the end of the day eveything went well and we had a fantastic musical experience. Thank you for all the bands and musicians, everybody who helped us out to make it possible. Thank you to the great crowd, especially to the friends who came from other countries for this concert. It is great to see that more and more people come and join us every year!

...and thank you to Gary Moore who gave us this all, and did bring us together!

See you next April!
With love, Zoli
