"Live At Montreux 2010" on CD, DVD & Blu-ray!

"2010 saw Gary Moore make a return to rock music after a long period of time exploring the blues. He was writing and working on a new rock album when all was brought to a halt by his untimely death on 6th February 2011. This concert from Montreux in July 2010 was his last performance to be filmed. The setlist draws heavily on his hugely successful rock albums of the eighties, stirs in a couple of his classic blues tracks with some memorable hit singles and includes three brand new songs that would have featured on the album left sadly uncompleted on his death. Gary Moore was one of the finest and most respected guitarists the British Isles have ever produced. This concert shows just what a talent we will miss."

Deluxe edition of Black Rose

The legendary "Black Rose" album will be out in a double deluxe edition on the 27th June 2011. This deluxe version of the album contains an expanded booklet by Paul Elliott and contains new interview with Scott Gorham and Brian Downey. The first disc contains the remastered version of this classic album from 1979, while you can find many rare and unrelased tracks on the bonus CD. Some of them are available on official release for the first time.

Gary Moore Memorial Collection

On 8th June 2011 a new double compilation will be released in Japan as a cooperation between Universal, EMI and Victor. The first disc of "Gary Moore Memorial Collection" (UICY-15066) will include songs from the period 1978-1990, mostly singles and Japanese favourites, but they also inserted the rare "Track Nine", which was released only a vinyl single B-side in 1978. The second disc is a nice collection of Gary's other projects and sessions from the '70s and '80s.

"Ballads & Blues" on CD & DVD

On the same day as the "Wild Frontier Tour" DVD, there will be another new CD+DVD release. Updated release dates: The special edition of "Ballads & Blues" is released on 29th of April in Germany, and it will be out on the 2nd of May everywhere else in Europe. The US release date is 10th of May. EMI decided to re-release Gary Moore's great collection of ballads in this double pack format. The video version of this nice compilation is never been released on DVD, so it's already a great thing, but the most interesting information related to it that they've added a 'promotion only' video to the DVD! In this 20 minutes long interview Gary is talking about the songs and also playing some short snippets from them. These are the tracklists of this forthcoming release:

BBC documentary about Gary Moore

Features a previously unseen interview with Gary Moore from 2006 and contributions from Thin Lizzy's Scott Gorham and Brian Downey. The programme will go out on BBC Northern Ireland on Tuesday, March 29th at 10.35pm. It can be viewed across the UK via Sky Television and for seven days on BBC Iplayer.

Gig for Gary

April 18th, Dublin, Ireland - "The music world lost a true legend this year in Gary Moore, one of the finest musicians to ever pick up the Guitar. Over a powerful 40 plus year career Gary provided the world with a wealth of amazing material from early Skid Row to Thin Lizzy and a varied and eclectic solo career. He has amazed the masses with a rare combination of technical wizardry and feeling. Gary was also a great singer, with a wide range and a great sense of melody. Gary Moore was the total package. A master of music and a born entertainer, and will be sorely missed by all of us whose music has touched our lives and inspired us, so it is only fitting that we pay tribute.

Musician tributes

Brian May
"Surely not...This seems completely unreal. I'm shocked to hear tonight that Gary Moore has died. What a wonderful player he was. It does not seem possible this is in the past. Well, his recordings will testify forever. But ... live ... he was a demon. I know, because we toured with Thin Lizzy all around the States, many years ago. Gary was awesome every night ... and the nicest guy you could imagine.
I have many memories - of visiting him in the studio, meeting him backstage, being staggered by his virtuosity in his solo gigs. Well, lost for words. Bless ya Gary, wherever you're bound. To Rock Heaven, I hope. 58? You were just a boy. Unbelievable. This is too sad. RIP Gary Moore. Brian"

White Knuckles and Blue Moods

Update: Here is the first teaser of the forthcoming Gary Moore documentary, "White Knuckles and Blue Moods"

The new blues album

Although online CD stores are mentioned different release dates for this autumn/winter, Eagle Records confirmed that the next Gary Moore (blues) album "has now been put into 2011". We have not much further information about what we will hear on this record, although last year Gary had mentioned an acoustic blues album, what he would like to make as well, but it's more likely will be something closer in it's style to "Bad For You Baby" or "Close As You Get".

UPDATE: At the moment 5th September 2011 is the planned release date for this new blues record (EAGCD422). (source: www.imusic.dk)

The best Gary Moore guitar solos

As probably you've seen it already, gibson.com published their list of "Top 50 Guitar Solos of All Time". Surprisingly you can't see there Gary Moore's name.

Let's see which Gary Moore solos should be on that list. If you like the idea to collect the best ones, please send your Top10 (or as many what you would like to mention) to our e-mail address at garymoorefc@gmail.com. We'll publish the result, our version of a "Top 50" in early November...and maybe will send it to gibson.com as well.

UPDATE: Thankyou for all your e-mails, lists!
As you can see on the right of the screen, we have a nice long list of our favourites, including live and studio versions as well. Of course there should be fifty more titles on it, but these are the songs that were mentioned
the most times in your e-mails and 'top guitar solos' lists during these autumn weeks. Probably it would be totally different next spring...
Anyway, now we all can vote for our current favourite! I guess most of us will find one in this list!

Trans-Siberian tour in October!

This autumn Gary will return to Russia with his new band, but this time they will visit more cities than earlier in April. The tour will follow a similar route as the Trans-Siberian railway, which is the world's longest and the most famous train route that goes through Russia. It crosses the whole continent, starts in Moscow and ending in Vladivostok.

Summer of Rock 2010 - Press release

Click for the larger sizeWith the "blues" line up on summer recess, Gary Moore will be hitting the road this summer, with a whole "new" band line up: Neil Carter returns, after 20 years, to take up his rightful place stage left, behind a battery of technology. He is planning to throw some on stage shapes, as he dusts off his guitars. Jonathan Noyce, (ex-Jethro Tull; sessions) will be holding down the bottom end on bass, again some one who is making a return to the live line up (he was last seen on the Phil Lynott, "One Night in Dublin" tribute DVD in 2005), and providing the percussive edge is a very familiar face, Darrin Mooney (Primal Scream ; sessions) on drums.

New EP & video featuring Gary's guitar playing!

Gypsy And The Wolf is a Brighton-based folk duo, and they have just released their new EP under the title "Perfect Rose".
On the 4th of February Gary joined them in a local pub to play "Crossroad", and around that time they are also recorded a song with Gary, what you can hear now on this EP. "Good Man" is the opening title of this new 6-track EP, which is available on iTunes from today. They are made a great video for the song featuring Gary, what we can watch now on their YouTube page.

Neil Carter, the unsung hero of the Gary Moore Band's greatest years

Without a doubt, as one who has studied the music of Gary Moore from quite early on in his career, the introduction of the multi-talented Neil Carter to Moore's rock band lineups, was indeed the catalyst for some of the finest and most enduring musical milestones in this phase of Gary's career. That Neil would unselfishly contribute his dynamic writing, playing abilities and performances, being such a gifted one in all these areas, truly is the mark of a great musician. To me the zenith of this collaboration, was the "Wild Frontier" era, even though Neil's actual contributions to the recorded album are not as substantial as other of Gary's albums, this LP and to a great deal as well, the "After The War" album, are standouts to me, though earlier albums have Moore/Carter compositions that are just as great.

Pinkpop Classic 2010

On the 14th of August, Gary will play at the Pinkpop Classic festival in Landgraaf, The Netherlands. Back in his old rock days, they have played already at the Pinkpop festival (23rd of May, 1983), after the release of "Corridors Of Power" album. After 27 years Gary will return to Pinkpop with his new rock project...hopefully with Neil Carter in the band, who also has been at that concert in 1983, just before his joining to Gary's band for the US tour.
